Pod: Exhibit B - Cars and Choppers

Somewhat of a karaoke pod...
Exhibit B: Cars and Choppers
Opening
Aloha awakea. (Hello Good mid-day)
Pehea 'oukou?  (How are you as a group)
Maika'i loa au. (I am very good)
Welcome to Underworld. It's so dark in here. I am @underworldpod, on Twitter, and theunderworldpod.com. How you doing? I just listened to Crazy by Kat Dahlia to get me pumped. This is podcast exhibit 2 - Cars and Choppers. I won't be submitting the first one, or exhibit A, to itunes. I will just keep that on Soundcloud, thank you.

I apologize for my Green Lantern and Green Hornet mix up. I am deeply embarrassed by my faux pas. Also, I mixed up Shane Brolly who played Kraven and Tony Curran who played Marcus. Both were in Underworld Evolution. But, it was Brolly's birthday on March 6th. I am deeply embarrassed by both mistakes. Just you wait until I accidentally say Underwear or Underwood (as in Blair Underwood) instead of Underworld.

I even questioned if I should take down the first pod. But, alas no.

Mistakes build character. It is the dings and rough spots that create the beauty of driftwood. Above all: "Never worry what other people think of you, because no one ever thinks of  you." - D. Oswald Heist in the Saga comics (Image Comics). Today is New Comic Book day 3/25/2015. I want to check out Midtown Comics and see what was released today.

What am I eating? I'm drinking Stash Premium Chai Spice Black Tea. It's delicious. I'm also drinking Emergen-C supplement drink, Lemon-Lime flavor. I'm done with my cold, but I'm around someone who is sick and I don't want to catch a cold again. So I'm upping my nutrient and vitamin count. I usually don't drink this flavor of Emergen-C. But, I'm digging it today.

If I have to nit pick, I didn't like how I said Bonjour... in the last pod. I can do better. I was sick at the time. I'm going to blame it on my cold.

Pretend we are Selene in the Belltower, or as I like to call it the gazebo on top of the building. Let's jump on in. Spoilers Abound!

Underworld News:
1. Underworld Reboot has an imdb page. Which is in direct effect to item number 2.

2. According to articles interviewing Theo James, he is not involved with the franchise. But, his name is still on the Next Generation imdb page. I don't know the answer to that, is one being pulled over the audience? You can't fool the Underworld, dear.

3. Will we see something at the San Diego Comic Con? Will the producers formally announce the reboot and TV series. Is it possible to get Tom Hiddleston to come out as Loki and open the Underworld panel? I'm joking. I want to see a Lycan/Vampire fight in Hall H. All the actors from the series duke it out, no guns (like Batman...) and whomever is still standing gets to be in the reboot.  What do they call that in WWE? Last Man Standing...no, no...no  a "Battle Royal". This is how you sell the reboot. My money is on Kevin Grevioux, on this last actor standing idea. Raze will be back. (But...All hail, Selene.)

Back to the first item. It is a reboot. What has Sony learned from the previous reboots re: The Amazing Spider-men, 2012. The Karate Kid, 2010? What are they learning from the Ghostbusters Universe?  All those talking heads and kale-head, kale as in the vegetable, executives are learning aplenty on the Ghostbusters reboot. Thank God that isn't my job. How does one reboot a series without annoying anyone? It is impossible. As Kevin Smith says, "Make your art".  You better want to blank this art in a Denny's restroom. Dear Underworld talking heads, would you want to (blank) the new series in the Denny's restroom? If not, don't release it. Sincerely yours, a fan.

That was Underworld news, but it was more so Underworld speculation.

Cars and Choppers which is the title of today's pod

In Underworld, 2003 Selene drives a 1980 Jaguar X16 Series 111 and a Maserati 3200 GT. I don't know how to properly pronounce the car model. So, bear with me.

Underworld Evolution a 1970 Ford LN 8000 is used when Michael and Selene are being chased by Marcus. That is the truck with the wooden sides. Recently when I see those types of trucks I think of U.E. and not any other movie.  I think of pre-dawn Hybrid fighting, baby.

A 1990 Land Rover Range Rover is driven as the pair head to Tannis' abode. His sexin' abode. When they arrive at Corvinuss' mission control boat they are in a 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser.

(From Imdb) A Corvinuss' strike team flies a (modified) Aérospatiale SA 360 Dauphin. When Selene and the strike team are leaving the helicopter for the showdown, the close-ups show a Bell 204 (or UH-1).

In Awakening Detective Sebastian, played by Michael Ealy, drives a Volvo with Swedish registration plates.

Top Gear -
Top Gear is in the news this week. I like the show, it makes me laugh.  If you don't know what you are getting into then don't watch the show. It won't be the same without those three presenters. I hope the Stig also leaves in support.

I was looking for actors involved with the series and I found two who were featured on Top Gear. Are there more? If so, our research department will be fired.
Charles Dance 1.48.8 (Astra)
Michael Sheen 1.46.3 (Lacetti) 6th place on that particular leader boards not too shabby, Mr, Sheen.

Pod Homework. Eureka!

The answer is "Riddle". Without looking at my notes I was going to call the video, "Ripple". Thank you notes for saving me from that.

Len Wiseman's name isn't on this video, but his influence and style of filmaking is all over this music video. Which leads me to believe that Underworld ripped off En Vogue. (joking) You don't have to watch the quad-riology (I might punk out and say series). They are giving you something you can feel in four minutes. Where are the oranges through the window in this franchise? Now, I haven't watched an En Vogue video in twenty years. Forgive me, but is the same group? I distinctly remember my cassette tape...Yes, a cassette tape... of, "Giving him something he can feel". A cassette single of that song.  Man, those were good times. Not really.

Sony Pictures Minute:

I retweeted that Sony is to produce a film version of Carole Kings' Broadway Musical, Beautiful. My favorite song on the original Broadway soundtrack is: Some Kind of Wonderful. Such a good song. Who will play King?  Jesse Muller please.  She won a Tony. Katie Brayben is playing King in the London production.  Brayben has been nominated for a Lawrence Olivier award. Good luck to her. Katie is trixiepig on twitter and that is quite a handle. Who in Hollywood could play Carole King? I don't know.

On Youtube, I watched the official trailer #1 for the movie Aloha. Did I see Gwen Stacy dancing hula or am I mistaken?

The Sony pictures twitter header is changed to Mr. Kevin James on a segue.

6 months from now, In theaters September 4th: Kitchen Sink will be released. The synopsis. "Vampires, humans and zombies used to get along in Dillford, but then something unexpected arrived and now it's humans vs. vampires vs. zombies in all-out mortal combat. It's up to three teenagers to try to get things back to "normal."" I thought there were aliens involved, too. (blah, blah.  Something about aliens) Trivia for Kitchen Sink: The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2010 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year.

A headline from The Hollywood Reporter: Sony Pictures Posts Hack-Delayed Quarterly Profit of $51 Million  An article by Gavin J. Blair (3/17/2015). ...more than the $20 million it had predicted in February, Sony Corp. announced in Tokyo on Tuesday. That was down 75 percent from the year-ago period in yen terms.

On Friday, March 27th. The Spectre (Spektor) teaser trailer will be released. I'll probably get around to watching it over the weekend. We'll discuss on our next pod.

In Other News

Have you picked up a copy of Underworld by Greg Cox?
gregcox-author.com (hyphenated or dash? Not an underscore or dash)

This is a novelization of the 1st movie. I may read his "Man of Steel" novelization. If I like the Underworld book, I'm going to read "Man of Steel". I confess I haven't watched the movie "Man of Steel". My plan was to wait until it was on basic cable.  I did listen to Kevin Smith discuss the movie with Ralph Garman. I got the Smith summery of the movie so I don't have to watch the movie. Or, at least I'm in no rush.

I don't like the Greg Cox website. I'm not poo-pooing it. It's straight and to the point. Plus he has cat photos, and that is adorable. Have you seen his bibliography? That's why he doesn't have time to spruce up his website. I wonder what what he is working on now? Is he working on "Dawn of Justice"?

I don't think I need to see "Dawn of Justice" when it opens in theaters. Do I have to say Batman vs. Superman: D.O.J? Or, can I just say D.O.J? Even if blank is revealed to be Namor. Which would be awesome. (Kevin Smith is a genius. Sorry, if you haven't listened to the Fat Man on Batman pod you won't understand any of that.)  I'm not in a rush.  I'll listen to a pod or read a review and I don't blame Ben Affleck. I don't watch movies in theaters anymore. (I geek out on Downton Abbey). Lady Edith I hope you have your happy ending.

Back to the Underworld book. I haven't finished "Mime Order", 2015 by Samantha Shannon. I have a hundred fifty pages to go. I hope to Start Underworld next week. Pick up the book, if you want and start reading it. That will be our pod homework for next time. We will discuss the first chapter of the novel.

But, before I get to Underworld I'm starting a new trade. Ha! It's reminds me of my youth, it's adorable and my favorite is Twilight Sparkle. It's not for everyone. I will be reading: MLP, Friendship is Magic vol 1, 2013. Written by Katie Cook. Art by Andy Price. Colors by Heather Breckel. Letters by Robbie Robbins and Neil Uyetake. Edited by Bobby Curnow. This is an IDW comic.  Repping IDW who came out with the Underworld comics.

Happy belated birthday to Robbie Gee who played Kahn in Underworld.  His birthday was yesterday. In April it will be Steven Mackintosh's birthday on 4/30 he played Tannis in U.E. and Rise-. (Which is fitting because my new closer is....)

Pod Bonus...

Hau‘oli Lā Pō‘alima Aloha! An extra installment of the pod.

It's Friday and I'm eating my cheese pizza with hot sauce. On my second cup of Stash Chai tea.

Underworld
I didn't fill out a March Madness bracket this year. I did it once and got out in the first round, like a majority of people. That was a decade ago, which blows my mind. I just looked up Emeka Okafor who played for UCONN and I predicted UCONN to go in the first round. Which f course meant that they would win the tournament that year. That was a bold prediction move on my behave. He is a free agent. How am I only three years older than this guy? He was on One Tree Hill. He should act more.  Is there a role for him in Underworld? I'm going to follow him on twitter - @bigmek50.

The first basketball player I have ever followed.

...There should be an X-men named Emeka Okafor. Someday when new X-men characters are reestablished.

Getting back to the franchise. We should have Underworld brackets. Who do you have in the top four? Who is going to the 'ship? Should we have the actor and character name? For example if I wanted: Selene, Michael, Kate Beckinsale and Kevin Grevioux in the final four? I'm making up this game, so sure. This is allowed:

Elite Eight for the reboot - Michael, Selene, Kate Beckinsale and K.G.. Tanis, Lucian, Amelia and Viktor. Tanis is my Cinderella.

For U-N.G. - Theo James, Thomas, India Eisley, Detective Sebastian, Tanis, Kahn Jr., Dr. Jacob Lanes' daughter and a new Vampire Elder.  Theo James is my Cinderella pick.

My picks don't make any sense, where the heck is Marcus? Where is Scott Speedman? My bracket is already busted. This is just the first draft. I'll pick new elite eights on the next pod. (I'll discuss the picks in a future blog). Save your brackets, listeners.

Today is Gloria Swanson's birthday. She was born March 27, 1899.

[In 1922] I have gone through a long apprenticeship. I have gone through enough of being a nobody. I have decided that when I am a star, I will be every inch and every moment the star! Everybody from the studio gateman to the highest executive will know it.

Happy Birthday Gloria Swanson, You are a star.

"We're out of time, we'll try to do better the next time."
Thank you listeners.  I'll record another pod in April. Thank you for listening to the Underworld pod. You can find us at @underworldpod and theunderworldpod.com. Support the franchise, don't illegally download it. Take care and in closing:
"Your exile seems a bit more comfortable than I remember."  ( - Selene U.E.)
